Why this? Why Now?
2020 has been a difficult year for everyone and now more than ever people living in cities need access to independently run spaces where creativity and community can thrive.
Establishing platform cooperatives is an effective way to make independent spaces and communities more financially resilient. If they work alone they might not survive. By working together they will be able to access new funding, leverage new technologies, attract new customers and reduce their costs.
WHAT WE DO
We approach likeminded spaces and communities within a local district
We host virtual and in person workshops to identify shared opportunities and challenges
We co-create and launch a platform cooperative
WHAT IS A PLATFORM COOPERATIVE?
A platform cooperative is a cooperatively owned, democratically governed organisation that establishes a website to facilitate the sale of goods and/or services. Platform cooperatives are an alternative to venture capital-funded platforms insofar as they are owned and governed by those who depend on them most—workers, users, and other relevant stakeholders.
WHY WE DO IT
To protect and support the grass roots organisations and spaces that make our cities better
